Freeman Walker

Freeman Walker ( * October 25, 1780 in Charles City, Charles City County, Virginia; † September 23, 1827 in Augusta, Georgia ) was an American politician ( Democratic- Republican), who represented the state of Georgia in the U.S. Senate.

Freeman Walker was educated at public schools in Virginia in 1797 and moved to Augusta in Georgia. There he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1803 and eventually began to practice as a lawyer.

In 1807, his political career began with membership of the House of Representatives from Georgia, where he remained until 1811. Between 1818 and 1819 he served as mayor of Augusta. Finally, Walker was, who was the Democratic Republicans, was elected as the successor of the Messenger of the United States in Spain appointed and thereupon resigned John Forsyth in the U.S. Senate in Washington, where he served from November 6, 1819 until August 6, 1821; on that day he put his hand down the mandate and returned to Georgia. In 1823 he was once mayor of Augusta, where he died four years thereafter.
