FreeMat

FreeMat such as matrix algebra, solution of linear systems of equations, integration, representation of sets of curves, etc. It is compatible to a large extent with the proprietary MATLAB, in contrast, is a programming environment and scripting language designed for the numerical solution and presenting mathematical problems, but free software.

FreeMat supports the file format and syntax of Matlab and uses some concepts of IDL such as reference parameters. In addition FreeMat has an interface to C, C , and Fortran, allows the development of parallel distributed algorithms ( with Message Passing Interface ) and provides graphical display options, even in 3D.
