Freeport is a city in Texas, United States. It is located about 80 km south of Houston on the Gulf of Mexico. Freeport is part of the County Brazoria County.

History

Freeport was founded in 1912 by the Freeport Sulphur Company. A strong economic recovery, the city experienced from 1940, when Dow Chemical began with the construction of chemical factories. In 1957, Freeport merged with Velasco (Texas ).

Geography
