FreeTTS

FreeTTS is a program written in the Java library that is used for speech synthesis. The name comes from the English: 'Free' refers to the open-source characteristic of the library; TTS is the acronym of Text-To -Speech, which means in English speech synthesis.

FreeTTS is one of the implementations of the Java Speech API. It is based on Flite, a speech synthesis system at Carnegie Mellon University, which in turn is based on the speech synthesis system Festival of the University of Edinburgh and the festvox project at Carnegie Mellon University.
