Freiburg Cathedral Boys' Choir

The Freiburg Cathedral Boys' Choir is one consisting of boys and men Ensemble of Freiburg cathedral music. The choir under the direction of Director of Music Boris Böhmann belongs with over 60 singers ( chamber choir ) to the best known boys' choirs in Germany. Its tradition can be traced back more than eight centuries.

Historical Overview

In the 13th century there were in Freiburg proved a Latin school, whose main task was the training of young singers for the Munster Music. Since the 16th century, part-songs for the Munster Boys' Choir is on record.

Until the 20th century the boys sang in the matins and vespers, and on Sundays and bank holidays together with the Freiburg cathedral chapel. Training

The education and youth development takes place in the Archbishop's Palace, the former residence of the Bishop, which was 1995/96 fully renovated and since that time a musical education institution - the Freiburg Cathedral Choir School - home. Here children can playfully come from three years of classical music in touch. Since 2006, a course for parents with children under three years is offered.
