Freiburger Barockorchester

The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO ) is a beheimatetes in Freiburg orchestra playing music with historical instruments, mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Activity

The FBO was founded in 1987 by graduates of the Freiburg Music Academy with the objective of historically informed performance practice. It played regularly own concert series at the Konzerthaus Freiburg, the LiederhalleStuttgart and the Berlin Philharmonic. The FBO is traveling on international concert tours and is now considered " one of the best early music ensembles in the world ."

In addition to recordings and performances of the eponymous music of the Baroque also treasures again and again from different musical eras are on the program and there are also trips to the contemporary new music ( Donaueschingen Music Days 2006 ). Numerous CD recordings, among other things, with music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Georg Philipp Telemann and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart illustrate the quality of this orchestra.

The baroque violinist Petra Müllejans and Gottfried von der Goltz share of the lead from the concertmaster's chair. Renowned guest conductors such as Trevor Pinnock, René Jacobs, Philippe Herreweghe, Ton Koopman or have already led the orchestra.

As a soloist occurs among others, the cellist Kristin von der Goltz with the orchestra.

A small formation plays Freiburg Baroque Consort preferred chamber music from the 17th and 18th centuries. The repertoire includes works by Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer or Antonio Bertali.

The "Freiburg " occur with their repertoire in the great concert halls of the world, often with artists such as Cecilia Bartoli and Thomas Quasthoff, the Arditti Quartet, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, the ensemble recherche, or Actress Jutta Lampe.

The orchestra released on the French label harmonia mundi. Several of these recordings have been honored with awards.
