Freiburger Puppenbühne

The Freiburg puppet stage is a known mainly in Baden- Württemberg puppet theater tours throughout the German-speaking countries and neighboring Alsace. The puppet theater, founded by Dr. John and Karin Minuth 1987 specifically intended for young viewers in kindergarten and primary school age, but with the processing of Goethe's Faust, a puppet show specifically for adults in the program.

Artistic creation

The hand puppet of Freiburg puppet stage in the traditional proscenium stage is influenced by the way of playing the player Walter Kasper Büttner, Max Jacob and Frederick Arndt. The focus is on the funny character of Kasper, whose history is the subject of the PhD thesis of John Minuth. The basics of the game with the hand figures learned John Minuth of Peter and Benita Steinmann, while Karin Minuth is a trained puppet therapist. From her also all the puppets, costumes and props are designed and manufactured.

Productions

The productions range from self-written pieces about literature Kasper edits to fairytale storytelling.

With Bello, a dog figure, the Freiburg puppet theater has a sympathetic figure, reminiscent of the old fairground game of the theatrical family Bille. In addition to the Kasper figure in almost all productions he plays a major role, eg Kasper and the castle ghost or Kasper and The Lion King.

Rather poetically, however, are the puppets pieces The Enchanted Bunny and The Flower Princess, in whose fairy-tale world animals, mother earth and fairies exist. Conversions of classic children's literature such as Pinocchio, are also included.

Due to the proximity to France, the Freiburger Puppenbühne also pieces with a French translation in the program, which are particularly requested by bilingual clubs and schools.

Goethe's Faust - The Puppet Show
