Freida Lee Mock

Freida Lee Mock is an American screenwriter, director and film producer.

Life

Mock studied history and law at the University of California at Berkeley. After her undergraduate degree, she worked for the National Geographic Channel. In 1983 she was nominated for the first time that produced for the PBS television documentary To Live Or Let for an Oscar. In 1989 she was awarded the Emmy for the portrait of the actress Lillian Gish, Lillian Gish: The Actor 's Life for Me A second nomination for an Academy Award in 1991 for the portrait of Rose Kennedy, Rose Kennedy: A Life To Remember. The Oscar she finally received in 1995 for Maya Lin: A Strong Clear Vision, a film about the artist and architect Maya Ying Lin. Other Oscar nominations she received for Never Give Up: The 20th Century Odyssey of Herbert Zipper, a portrait of Herbert Zipper, as well as Sing, a documentary about a children's choir in Los Angeles.

Along with Terry Sanders, she founded the American Film Foundation and is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Directors Guild of Americaund the Writers Guild of America. She speaks Chinese and French.
