Freier TuS Regensburg

The Free TuS Regensburg is a sports club from Regensburg.

History

The club was founded on 15 June 1911 as Free Turnerschaft Regensburg. The sporting activities of the Workers' Association were limited initially to gymnastics and athletics, only after the First World War, a football section was founded. With the assumption of power by the National Socialists of the workers' sports club, which carries the current name since 1921, was banned and confiscated assets of the association. The reestablishment took place on 15 February 1946.

First gained national attention the players of the outdoor TuS Regensburg with the rise in the national league Bavaria in 1997. In the 2009/10 season the team national league champion and rose for the first time in the club's history in the Bavarian League on. After only one year, however, was the descent as Table, now the club was passed in the district league.

Known player

  • Nico Beigang, former third division football player for the SSV Jahn Regensburg, the Stuttgarter Kickers and SV Darmstadt 98, has since 2012 player-coach of TuS outdoors.
  • Andreas Brysch began his career in the youth of the association. The defender later played for SSV Jahn Regensburg and SpVgg Unterhaching in the 3rd league.
  • David Romminger - later third league players SSV Jahn Regensburg - also began his career in the youth teams of TuS.
