Freightliner Trucks

Freightliner Trucks is an American truck manufacturer and a brand of Daimler Trucks North America LLC, the largest manufacturer of heavy-duty vehicles in North America. Freightliner was taken over in 1981 by Daimler -Benz and since part of the Daimler Group. The company's headquarters is located in Portland, Oregon. Other production facilities exist in the United States and in Mexico.

History

The story of Freightliner began as Leland James, Managing Director of Consolidated Freightways decided to produce their own truck for his forwarding. 1939 " Freightways Manufacturing Corp.. " As a subsidiary company in Salt Lake City (Utah ) was founded. A year later, the first own Cabover Truck Model CF- 100 will be completed with diesel engine. As a trademark, Freightliner was registered in 1942. In Germany Freightliner tractors are especially known by the Coca -Cola Christmas trucks.

Freightliner Trucks employs 19,000 people and exports to 35 countries.
