Freedom Hall in yard is the largest multi-purpose facility in the eastern North Bavaria. It is divided into two areas, the Big House and the Festival Hall. As of May 2009, the hall was closed due to construction work. It was renovated on a large scale and is additionally provided with a partial rebuild. The reopening took place in September 2012.

Freedom Hall is operated by the city court and is assigned within the administration of the Department of Culture ( Peter Nürmberger line ).

Location

At the Freiheitshalle borders of Volksfestplatz, an open space, which is used as fairground and exhibition center. Along the hall stands the Hotel Central, across the street is the theater courtyard. Across the hall is the station yard -Neuhof, a stop on the railroad yard Bad Steben.

Use

The Big House the second Freedom Hall is a regular venue for major television productions such as "Wetten, dass. ", " Candid Camera ", the " festival of folk music " with Florian silver iron, " Welcome to Carmen Nebel ". "Wetten, dass. " Was for the first time on 26 September 1987 by Thomas Gottschalk hosted in the Hofer Freedom Hall. During the Hofer Volksfest the Big House served as a " marquee ".

The Big House offered up to 4500 visitors. In row seating, it had places 2500-2800.

The ballroom as the small house of liberty hall offers 800 seats and is used for social events, conventions and meetings as well as for concerts and cultural events. It was redesigned in 1994 after a major renovation. As part of the 2009-2012 running recent renovation it was adapted to today's technical requirements, in shape retained. The ballroom is the Concert Hall of the Hofer Symphoniker.

History

The first festival hall at Hofer Volksfestplatz was inaugurated in 1935. According to the then balance of power in Germany, the hall was named Adolf Hitler hall, named after the dictator Adolf Hitler. As World War and dictatorship were over, the hall, the name Freedom Hall was awarded. The memory of the liberation of the Nazi dictatorship so should always remain in the memory.

The second Hofer freedom hall was completed after three years of construction in 1974, after the old building was burned down. The Great House was originally designed as a sports hall. From the completion of 1974-1999 around 7 million people visited 6000 Events in Freedom Hall.
