The outdoor theater Bad Windsheim is a professional open air theater in Bad Windsheim Middle Franconia, where professional actors and amateurs play annually up to 15,000 spectators. The program includes the spring and summer children's and adult pieces and in the winter season winter change through theater houses and farms on the Bad Windsheim museum grounds.

The outdoor theater was founded by theater professionals in collaboration with the Franconian Open Air Museum of Bad Windsheim and the region of Middle Franconia in 2003. The first season in 2004 showed with " the flying schweyn " the principles of this form of theater has been inspired by the Swiss Open-Air Theater: A large ensemble of professionals and amateurs plays a specially tailored piece in a special, original venue, often with live music, with live animals and in front of homes or landscapes.

In the field, Theater Bad Windsheim productions are shown exclusively, which are then sometimes adopted by other open-air stages.

It is played annually at alternating venues, always within the Franconian Open Museum, one of the largest open-air museums in southern Germany with more than 100 buildings on sprawling grounds. In each case, a stand that holds 300 to 400 spectators, built in a historic setting. Between December and August, during the sample period and the performances, live and work 100 people for the theater.

Supported the outdoor theater next to the region of Middle Franconia and the Franconian Open Air Museum by the town of Bad Windsheim and especially by well-known companies and institutions in the city and the region.
