The Freising train station is a few hundred meters from the city center of Freising away south of the Cathedral Hill.

History

The station was opened as part of the construction of the route from Munich to Landshut in 1858. Until 1859 this was extended to Regensburg. 1891/92 the distance to Landshut was expanded to double track. 1925, the section from Munich to Freising was electrified until 1927, the rest of the way to Regensburg. Shortly before the end of the Second World War, the station on 18 April 1945 was target of a bomb attack. At the train station and in the vicinity 224 people died and the station was destroyed. The new station was opened in 1953. Since 1972, Freising is connected to the Munich S-Bahn, which went into operation this year. By 1973, reversed the Hallertauer the local train to Langenbach on the way to Landshut drove for diverting direction then Hallertau. Since 2006, the assets controlled remotely on the Freising railway station of Munich.

Rail transport

The Freising train station has four platform tracks at two central platforms. The platforms are accessible via two underpasses. One is located on the station building and is equipped with lifts, or expanded accessible with a ramp. The other means of access is at the northern end of the platform and only has stairs on. From track 1 regional trains to Landshut, Plattling and Regensburg. On track 2 keep the continuous regional trains, Regional Express trains and Alex towards Munich Central Station. On track 3, the S1 line of the Munich S -Bahn, which connects in a 20 -40- minute intervals ( every 20 minutes in rush hour ) Freising downtown Munich ends. On track 4, the above -mentioned continuous trains towards Landshut and Passau or Regensburg further direction / Nuremberg. In the southeast of the platform tracks are a plain track for overtaking and two sidings, which are available on overnight trains, the S -Bahn. The two sidings are accessible only by the Landshut side of the station after the connection in the direction of Munich was dismantled. Earlier still existed other freight tracks, but they are, without exception, no longer in operation. Establishments with siding included the tractor manufacturer Schlüter and BayWa.

Bus

At the northern end of the platform is on the downtown side facing the bus station of the city buses Freising. Almost all lines have their start and end points here. Among them is also the line 635 which connects Freising with the Munich Airport. Since this has no rail connection to eastern Bavaria, this can be used to get out of this direction to the airport. The buses to operate out of the box Lerch located on the other side of the tracks stop.

Southwest of the station building is the regional bus station.

Road

Directly north of the station, the B 11 passes, one of the main thoroughfares of Freising. This is also the station forecourt. This is also a taxi rank. Parking is on this station side only few available.

On the south side of the tracks is a large park - and-ride car park is nearly 1000 parking spaces.

In several places around the station are nearly 1,600 mostly covered bicycle parking spaces.

Others

The station building has a train station bookstore, a travel center in the DB as well as a branch of Yorma's. After the railway line was equipped with electronic interlockings, a McDonald's restaurant was opened in a freiwerdendem by extension of the building. A few meters from the station are the boarding house Freising and a Deutsche Post retail outlet.
