Geography

Fremdingen located in the Augsburg region on the northern edge of the Nordlinger Ries.

There are the following districts: Fremdingen, Hausen, Herblingen ( on Riesrand, about 200 inhabitants), Hochaltingen, Schopflohe, Seglohe.

History

Fremdingen belonged to the principality of Oettingen- Spielberg. With the Act of Confederation in 1806 the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria.

Incorporations

The communities Fremdingen ( with Opper Mountain, Uttenstetten and Grunhof ), Hausen, Herblingen, Hochaltingen, Raustetten, Schopflohe and Seglohe ( with Eiterberg and Hochstadt ) were merged on 1 May 1978 at the regional reform to the new community Fremdingen.

Economy and infrastructure

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 852,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 113,000.

Economy, agriculture and forestry

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in manufacturing and 254 in trade and transport, no social insurance contributions at the workplace. In other areas, were employed to social security at the workplace 70 people. Social insurance contributions at residence, there were a total of 737 in the manufacturing sector, there were 42 establishments in the construction of six companies. In addition, in 1999, there were 132 farms with an agricultural area of 2092 ha, of which 1557 ha of arable land and 532 ha of permanent grassland.

Traffic

The breakpoint Fremdingen lies on the railway line Nördlingen Dombühl. Here you can find seasonal during the summer special tours of the Bavarian Railway Museum.
