Fremont County (Wyoming)
The Fremont County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wyoming. On 1 July 2005, the population was 36 491 people. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lander.
Geography
According to the U.S. Census, the county covers an area of 23 998 square kilometers; of which 216 square miles of water. Fremont County is bordered on the north by Hot Springs County, in the north- east by Washakie County, on the east by Natrona County, on the southeast by Carbon County, to the south by Sweetwater County, on the west by Sublette County and to the northwest by Teton County and Park County.
History
Fremont County was founded in 1884. The county was named after the explorer and politician John Charles Fremont. It is the historic area of the Wind River Indian Reservation and the home area of the Shoshone and Arapaho Indians.
Historical buildings
Fort Washakie is the historic Fort Washakie Historic District. The area is located within the Wind River Indian Reservation on U.S. Route 287 Fort Washakie Historic District comprises 36 buildings and was accepted as a historical monument with the number 69,000,188 on 16 April 1969 by the National Register of Historic Places.

According to the census of 2000, there were 35,804 people in Fremont County. There were 13,545 households, and 9481 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.49 % White, 0.12 % African American, 19.68 % Native American, 0.30 % Asian, 0.03 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 1.16 % from other races groups; 2.21% were descended from two or more races. 4.37% percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 13,545 households out of which 32.20 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 54.30 % were married couples living together, 10.90 % percent were single mothers, 30.00% were non-families. 25.50% of all households and 10.00 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.10 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 27.40 % under the age of 18, 8.30 % from 18 to 24, 25.90% from 25 to 44 years, 25.00% between 45 and 64 years and 13.30% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.20 males, 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.40 males.
The median income for a household was $ 32,503, and the median income for a family was 37 983. USD. Males had a median income of $ 30,620, women $ 19,802. The per capita income was $ 16,519. 17.60 % of families and 13.30% of the population were below the poverty line. 23.70 % of those under age 18 and 12.50 % were 65 years or older.
