Fremont Troll

The Fremont Troll is a plastic that is located under the northern end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge ( Aurora Bridge also ) in the Troll Avenue North in Fremont, Seattle, Washington.

Description

The 18 feet ( about 5.50 meters ) high work of art shows the head, shoulders and arms of a monster that crushes in his left hand a VW Beetle. His left eye contains a metal element, probably a hubcap. In the beetle, the holding of the Troll were originally memorabilia of Elvis Presley, also carried the vehicle a number plate with approval from California. After vandalism on the artwork these items are no longer available.

History

The sculpture was built in 1990 on Halloween by Steve Badanes, Will Martin, Donna Walter and Ross Whitehead under the north end of the Aurora Bridge during a organized by the Fremont Arts Council Arts competition. On 31 October, the community celebrates a ' Trollaween Party " in honor of the Fremont Troll. Connected is this festival with a parade, which begins under the bridge and leads to other strange sights of the municipality, including the largest Lenin statue in the United States.

The Troll statue has become a landmark of the district of Fremont, which they used on his homepage.
