French ship Aigle (1800)

The Aigle ( German: "Eagle" ) was a sailing warship of the French Navy.

History

The Aigle was completed in 1800 in the shipyard in Rochefort.

1805 she sailed with the Algésiras to the West Indies to meet the French fleet under the command of Vice Admiral Pierre de Villeneuve.

On October 21, 1805 took part in the Battle of Trafalgar and was captured by the British. During the Battle of the 755 members of the crew arrived at 70, 100 more were wounded; also the captain of the ship was killed.

The next day it abolished the French team to bring the taken by the British as a prize ship back to their violence. On 23 October 1805, however, suffered during a storm shipwreck.
