Frenk village is a municipality in the district of Liestal in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Frenk village is 12 kilometers from the city center of Basel and 2 km from the cantonal capital of Liestal. There are six neighboring municipalities: Füllinsdorf, Gempen (Canton Solothurn ), Liestal, Muttenz, Nuglar -St. Pantaleon (Canton Solothurn ) and Pratteln. The limit is approximately 14.5 kilometers long.

Coat of arms

Frenk village is one of the few municipalities in the canton, which have a historical coat of arms. In 1865 it was carved out during the construction of the village well into the stone.

History

Frenk village was first mentioned in 1249. The village was founded by a Alemannic tribe under the leadership of a man named Franko. Originally was called the place " Frankovilare ". The present name dates from the year 1302.
