Frequency allocation

A frequency assignment is the official or authority conferred by law permission to use certain frequencies under specified conditions ( § 55 TKG) in Germany. The authority concerned is the Federal Network Agency.

In general, frequencies are allocated in the form of a general allocation of its own motion in general. Examples include use of frequencies for wireless microphones, cordless telephones ( DECT ), mobile phones ( colloquially mobile phones), but also for the Inland Waterways and the maritime mobile service. The Federal Network Agency published the general assignments in its Official Journal and on the Internet.

If a general assignment is not possible frequencies can be allocated in the context of a single allocation to use; this is done mostly for reasons of coordination to avoid harmful interference or to ensure efficient use of spectrum. The individual assignment is individually documented by the frequency assignment certificate. This certificate must be included with the relevant radio station if necessary.

In accordance with further legislation may be required to operate a radio station other official permits, such as an EMF document ( protecting people and the environment). The elements referred to in § 55 TKG specified conditions usually heard also that the radio equipment used have been properly registered or put into circulation; the latter is attested by the CE mark.

In the general and individual assignments, the Federal Network Agency shall establish the frequency plan ( § 54 TKG) is based. Usages of the Ministry of Defense require pursuant to § 57 TKG in the frequency plan designated exclusively for military uses frequency ranges to no frequency allocation.
