Frequentis is an internationally active Austrian high-tech company with its headquarters in Vienna. The company develops and markets communication and information systems for safety-critical solutions in the markets of Air Traffic Management and Public Safety and Transport.

History

The company was founded in 1947 by Emanuel Strunz in Vienna. Engineers of the company at that time produced a wide variety of technical products that were necessary in the course of reconstruction, such as radio equipment, including accessories for power stations, customs services, gendarmerie / police and fire departments. 1950 about a radio station " Vienna II " for the RAVAG in the Thalia Street was built. In 1955, the first air traffic control contract for the airport Wien- Schwechat.

In 1983, Hannes Bardach out the technical management and 1986 as part of the Austrian " management buy- out" initiative, the shares of the company. Bardach built the small business with then 45 employees and a turnover of 2.9 million Euros into an internationally active group of companies.

In the 1990s, the company sold a decisive impetus for the introduction of fully digital voice communication systems in air traffic control - the world's first large-scale system was installed at the European air traffic control euros. Frequentis is also involved in the SESAR program.

From the late 1990s there was a broadening of the business activities of the core business of air traffic control in security areas, such as public safety, rail and shipping.

In 2005 the company was awarded the contract for the construction of an integrated communication system for the London Metropolitan Police ( " Scotland Yard " ), followed in 2006 the contract for the equipment control centers of the Norwegian safety net Nødnett.

Internationally, the company is represented by companies, branches and representatives in over 50 countries and is considered the world leader in secure communications networks. Frequentis maintains close contacts with the Austrian industry.
