Frew McMillan

Frew Donald McMillan ( born May 20, 1942 in Springs, Gauteng) is a former South African tennis player.

Career

Frew McMillan won in his playing career, together with the native Australians and later compatriot Bob Hewitt, five titles in the men's doubles at Grand Slam tournaments ( 1972 French Open in 1967, 1972 and 1978 Wimbledon and 1977 U.S. Open). In addition there are a further five titles in mixed doubles ( 1966 French Open, 1978 and 1981 at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in 1977 and 1978 ). On the ATP tour the South Africans get a total of 63 tournament victories in tennis doubles and two singles titles.

McMillan played from 1965 to 1969 and from 1973 to 1978 for the South African Davis Cup team and won the 1974 team tournament. However, the final opponent India boycotted the final result of the policy of apartheid in South Africa. In 1992, his induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
