Freybouse

Freybouse is a commune with 423 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Forbach and Canton Grostenquin.

Geography

Freybouse than twelve kilometers south of the former mining town of Saint -Avold and about 20 kilometers from the border of the Saarland. The nearly 6 km ² comprehensive municipal area is dominated by arable and grassland areas, only in the West, the community has an interest in a 120 acre wooded area. Drained the environment Freybouses by the Ruisseau du Bisch forest, a small German Nied flowing ditch. The southern boundary of the municipality is the National Road 74, which runs on a ridge which separates the basins of the Nied and the alb, which eventually lead to both the Saar.

History

The name Freybouse, which is handed down since 1492, consists of the German and the French free bous - from bois ( = wood) - together. Documented the site first appeared in 1260 as a Bouz. The village was under the bishops of Metz.
