Frida Giannini

Frida Giannini (born 1972 in Rome) is an Italian fashion designer and is currently active as Creative Director of the Italian fashion house Gucci.

Life

Giannini studied fashion design at Rome's Fashion Academy. In 1997, she worked for Fendi to design ready- to-wear. After three seasons, she was promoted to designer of leather goods. In 2002 she joined Gucci as design director of handbags.

In 2004, when Tom Ford left the company, Giannini was appointed as the Head of Women's Accessories. Giannini tried now on the Gucci style from Tom Ford to change by focusing on the heritage of Guccio Gucci. On the scarf from Grace Kelly based they designed the "Flora " collection with colorful handbags. Flora was then Giannini's first commercial success. The style of the collection was expanded to other accessories, such as ballet shoes.
