Frieda Hempel

Frieda Hempel ( born June 26, 1885 in Leipzig, † October 7, 1955 in Berlin) was a German opera singer (soprano ).

Life

Frieda Hempel studied and sang in Berlin, and has been called " the emperor lark " quickly became famous, moved to Schwerin to after three years at the request of William II to return to Berlin. She followed in 1912 a chair at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City where she sang frequently occurred with Enrico Caruso. She returned only sporadically returned to Germany. She was buried in the cemetery military road in the Berlin district of Westend.
