Friederike Charlotte of Hesse-Darmstadt

Friederike Charlotte of Hesse- Darmstadt ( born September 8, 1698 Darmstadt, † March 22, 1777 in Darmstadt) was a princess of Hesse- Darmstadt and by marriage Princess of Hesse -Kassel.

Life

Friederike Charlotte was a daughter of the Landgrave Ernst Ludwig of Hesse -Darmstadt (1667-1739) from his marriage to Dorothea Charlotte (1661-1705), daughter of Margrave Albrecht of Brandenburg- Ansbach. They became engaged on October 6, 1720 Maximilian of Hesse- Kassel ( 1689-1753 ), whom she married in Darmstadt on 28 November 1720.

Neither in the small rule Jesberg her husband Friederike Charlotte was at the Kassel court yet quite at home, and she held herself - either alone or with their children - often for months near her father, Landgrave Ernst Ludwig of Hesse -Darmstadt, in the residence Darmstadt on. The long absences of her husband, was met with much skepticism in the family. For criticism and lack of understanding also caused her exalted liberal lifestyle and lavish lifestyle.

After the death of her husband Maximilian Friederike Charlotte returned in 1755 finally to Darmstadt, where she died on March 22, 1777 and in 1687 built " Fürstengruft " of the Darmstadt city church (under the south aisle ) was buried. The tomb is no longer open to the public today.
