Friedhelm glitter ( born December 10, 1953 in Neuss ) is a former German football player and current coach.

Playing career

After training as a wholesale merchant glitter began his playing career at the Krefeld club Bayer 05 Uerdingen (now KFC Uerdingen ). Between 1980 and 1983, played the goalscoring midfielder at the 1 FC Kaiserslautern before he then moved back to Krefeld back. His greatest success as a player was winning the DFB Cup in 1985 with Bayer Uerdingen with a 2-1 victory over Bayern Munich.

After 320 league games in which he scored 83 goals, he finished his career in 1990 in Uerdingen. His 254 games and 59 goals for Bayer Uerdingen mean today Bundesliga record for the Krefeld.

Coaching career

After he had incidentally trained as a player in the 1989/90 season his hometown club VfR Neuss in the national league, he took over at the end of the season 1990/1991 the head coaching job in Uerdingen. With the Krefeldern he did rise in 1991, 1993 and 1996 from, but also managed to twice its chances of promotion (1992, 1994). After relegation in 1996 he moved to MSV Duisburg.

On 14 May 1996 he began his work in Duisburg. Shortly thereafter, glitter rose with MSV on in the 1st Bundesliga and managed three times in a row sovereign in the league table with single-digit squares. 1998 we moved into the DFB Cup final, but lost 1:2 against FC Bayern Munich. The season 1999/2000 was not satisfactory and he was discharged on 24 March 2000, when the zebras were knocked off in last place.

On 19 September 2000, he took over the then Bundesliga side Hansa Rostock in the relegation zone, glitter then managed to avoid relegation with three games left in the season. For the 2001/02 season, his younger brother Wolfgang glitter was hired as an assistant coach, but released after some mediocre games again as early as 1 December 2001.

On 14 February 2002 he became a coach at FC Cologne 1. Despite a good balance ( no home defeat ) Funkel could not save from relegation to the 2nd Bundesliga Cologne. In the season 2002/ 03 the immediate back in the Bundesliga. Due to poor performance glitter came on 30 October 2003 from his post in Cologne back.

At the beginning of the season 2004/2005 he took over the team of Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga 2; In 2005 he succeeded with a young team promotion to the first division. The season ended on place 14 of the 1st Bundesliga. Eintracht Frankfurt moved into the DFB Cup final, which Bayern won 1-0. Since the German champions Bayern qualified as directly for the Champions League, started the Frankfurt in the 2006/ 07 UEFA Cup. The 2007/2008 season ended in 9th place and was the most successful season for the coach.

From September 2013 Glitter was coach of the TSV 1860 München. After the club and glitter had announced the separation end of the season in March 2014, Glitter was released in early April after a 0-3 home defeat against Karlsruher SC prematurely.

Family

His brother Wolfgang glitter is also a football coach. Glitter is an active member in the Neuss Rifle Club Bomelante. He has two daughters and lives with his partner in Krefeld.
