Friedrich August Wilhelm von Brause

Friedrich August Wilhelm von shower ( born September 10, 1769 in Zeitz, † December 23, 1836 in Frankfurt ( Oder) ) was a Saxon, later Prussian officer, last divisional commander, General of Infantry and 2 honorary citizen of the city of Frankfurt (Oder).

Life

Origin

Friedrich August Wilhelm comes from the Prussian- Saxon noble family of effervescent. He was the son of Major General and Commander of Saxon Leipzig Hans Karl von shower ( born August 28, 1718 Pritten, † November 12, 1800 in Leipzig) and his wife Karoline Henriette, née van Bockel bacon (* February 17, 1737; † 9. May 1795 in Chemnitz). His cousin was Johann Georg Emil von shower.

Military career

The age of twelve began Brauses military career as Knight in the Saxon Infantry Regiment " Elector ". Under the command of his father he was an ensign in 1786, second lieutenant in 1789 and took part in the siege of Mainz and the Battle of Kaiserslautern.

As regimental adjutant and first lieutenant he was in the battle of Saalfeld and in the battle of Jena. Shower fought in the other battles of the Napoleonic Wars on the side of the French, however, led in 1813 under the command of General Johann von Thielmann secret negotiations to prepare a crossing Saxon troops to the Allies. As commander of the 1st Saxon Infantry Brigade shower occurred on October 18, 1813 the day of the Battle of Leipzig, contrary to the command of his brother, the Saxon commander in chief General Heinrich Wilhelm von Zeschau to the allies.

From the Russian Emperor Alexander I appointed Major General, he defended under the command of General Thielmann Wavre against the French General Emmanuel de Grouchy and enabled this Blücher to come to the Duke of Wellington in the decisive Battle of Belle Alliance to help.

When the Congress of Vienna in 1815, the division of Saxony decided to shower came about in the Prussian army and was on 5 September 1818 commander of the 5th Division in Frankfurt ( Oder) appointed.

As a general of infantry shower was transferred on March 19, 1835, pension in retirement. In 1836 he was buried at the old cemetery in Frankfurt ( Oder).

Family

Shower married on 21 January 1800 Clodra with Karoline Friederike Sidonie Leisching ( born December 22, 1772 in Long Salza, † November 5, 1843 in Frankfurt ( Oder) ). She was the daughter of the Evangelical Lutheran superintendents to Langensalza Karl Gottlob Leisching. From the marriage seven children were born:

  • Marie ( * May 9, 1817, † February 27, 1900 in Frankfurt ( Oder) )

His grandson was Hans Adolf von shower.
