Friedrich-Baur-Preis

The Friedrich- Baur- prize is awarded by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Friedrich- Baur -Stiftung since 1990. He was launched on the occasion of the 100th birthday of the entrepreneur and the founder Friedrich Baur ( 1890-1965 ). From 1990, the price from 2010 every two years was awarded annually.

The award honors individuals and institutions that originate from Franconia, the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria or operate there. Similar to the departments of the Academy will be awarded in several categories, prices: Fine Arts, Literature, Music and Performing Arts, since 2012, film and media arts.

The ceremony will take place at different locations. In the founding year 1990 Burgkunstadt, the seat of the Friedrich- Baur -Stiftung, was elected; in subsequent years, historic spaces such as the Margrave Opera House in Bayreuth, the Cuvilliés Theatre Munich and the ETA Hoffmann Theater Bamberg.
