The Friedrich- Dessauer -Gymnasium is a public high school in Frankfurt am Main and forms the upper secondary school in so-called composite Frankfurt- Höchst. It is the largest of the three pure upper- secondary schools in Frankfurt.

History

Before the foundation of the Friedrich- Dessauer -Gymnasium students completed in maximum and the surrounding her high school to two traditional locations - male students at the existing since 1818 Leibniz school in the encoder schools street, female students at the Helene -Lange- School in the city park.

In 1972 the city of Frankfurt decided to merge the two upper stages on Main. Basis of this consideration was the creation of the New Gymnasiale school ( NGO) by the then state government of Hesse. On October 14, 1972, the groundbreaking ceremony was followed by the Hessian Finance Minister Heribert Reitz and Frankfurt Lord Mayor Rudi Arndt. This was accompanied in the time of the student revolts of student protests against the teacher shortage.

On June 10, 1975, the School of Rudi Arndt was inaugurated. The Friedrich- Dessauer -Gymnasium is (in short: BIKUZ ) in the educational and cultural center of Frankfurt housed. Both the building and the school are therefore colloquially abbreviated Bikuz. The building management offices of the Community College (VHS) Frankfurt are housed, which also uses the premises for teaching events. The city library for the Höchst district is located in the building. Initially 300 courses of 150 teachers were offered for the 980 students.

In 2005, the Friedrich- Dessauer -Gymnasium was chosen by the magazine Capital for best school in Frankfurt. Hesse wide it reached rank 3, in comparison with other German court 84 Since 2008, the FDG is by the school rating page www.schulradar.de with a grade of 1.9 out as the best Hessian school.

In 2007, the demolition of the school building was decided. With the beginning of the school year 2009/10, the new building was purchased and officially handed over on 28 September 2009 to the school community.
