Friedrich-Gundolf-Preis

The Friedrich Gundolf Prize for the promotion of German culture abroad in 1964, donated by the German Academy for Language and Literature. The award is presented annually, not just as the Johann Heinrich Voss Award for translation as part of the Spring Meeting of the Academy.

The price is reminiscent of the poet and literary scholar Friedrich Gundolf ( 1880-1931 ). Until 1989 it was called Friedrich Gundolf Prize for German Studies abroad and was only given to representatives of foreign universities. By renaming the recognition of mediation German culture outside of universities should be made possible.

It is endowed with 12,500 euros. The jury has a term of three years and there is currently (2010) from Michael Krüger, Norbert Miller, Per Øhrgaard, Ilma Rakusa, Miguel Sáenz, Joachim Sartorius and Jean -Marie Valentin.
