Friedrich Julius Hammer

Friedrich Julius Hammer ( born June 7, 1810 in Dresden, † August 23 1862 in Pillnitz ) was a German writer and poet and cofounder of the German Schiller Foundation.

Hammer 1831 studied law in Leipzig, then swung around on philosophy and literature. In 1834 he returned to Dresden. A comedy The strange breakfast, it provided access to the literary society of the town, particularly in Ludwig Tieck, since he worked only as a writer.

Between 1851 and 1859 he worked at the Saxon constitutional newspaper and was a founding member in 1855 of the German Schiller Foundation. His marriage in 1851 made ​​him financially independent and he bought a small farm in Pillnitz, where he, after several years of stage in Nuremberg, also died. Works
