Friedrich Schlemm

Friedrich Schlemm ( born December 11, 1795 in grating on the mountain, † May 27, 1859 in Berlin) was a German physician and anatomist.

Life

Friedrich Schlemm began his medical studies in 1813 in Braunschweig and continued it in Berlin. In 1821 he was awarded his doctorate, in 1823 he completed his habilitation and became prosector at the University of Berlin. In 1829 he became an associate in 1833 full professor of anatomy. Later he was appointed to the Privy medical officer.

Schlemm was mainly through his section of corpses and the production of scientific intuition preparations in alcohol or alcohol, some of which are preserved in the Humboldt University in Berlin today, is known.

He discovered named after him Schlemm's canal, the drainage path of the aqueous humor of the eye.
