Friedrich Wilhelm Schneidewin

Friedrich Wilhelm Schneidewin ( born June 6 1810 in Helmstedt, † January 11, 1856 in Göttingen ) was a German classical scholar.

Schneidewin 1837 was extraordinary, in 1842 ordinary professor of classical languages ​​and literature at the University of Göttingen. He was the first editor of the magazine founded in 1848 Philologus. His sons were the Protestant philosopher and classical philologist Max Schneidewin (1843-1931) and the high school teacher Hermann Schneidewin ( 1848-1889 ).
