The Friends Arena is a football stadium with a closable roof in the Swedish municipality of Solna, Stockholm County. By closable roof wide variety of events can take place in the arena.
History
Construction began in December 2009 and were completed in the fall of 2012. The Friends Arena replaces the Råsundastadion as the home ground of the Swedish national football team of men and National Stadium. In addition, the football club AIK Solna will host its games in the arena. The namesake of the stadium, the Swedbank. On 28 March 2012, Swedbank announced to rename the stadium in Friends Arena.
The inauguration of the Arena took place on 27 October 2012. On this occasion there was a directed by Colin Nutley show with Swedish musicians such as, inter alia, Loreen, Roxette, The Hives, Agnes Carlsson, Tomas Ledin. The first football match of the men was held on November 14, 2012. There, Sweden and England clashed. In a 4-2 victory for the Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimović scored not only the first goal in the stadium but all four goals of the owners.
Location and facilities
The stadium is located near the Solnaer Pendeltåg hold station, about six kilometers from Stockholm Central Station. In addition to the stadium creating a parking area for 300 buses and 4000 cars. The stadium is at football matches have a capacity of 50,000 for concerts and 65,000 seats. The closable roof with an area of 3750 m² can be concluded within 20 minutes. Special Events
On 22, 23 and 24 November 2012, the Swedish House Mafia Swedish House Group was in the Friends Arena their first and last performances in Sweden. After announcing its dissolution on June 23, 2012, tickets for Friday and Saturday sold in less than an hour.
The finale of the melodies festivals in 2013, the Swedish preselection for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2013 was held in the Friends Arena on 9 March 2013. In Stockholm's bid for the Euro Vision Song Contest 2013, the arena was intended as a venue. The decision was in favor but the Malmö Arena.
In the Friends Arena the final of the European Football Championship Women was held on 28 July 2013. Germany sat down 1-0 against Norway.
On September 21, 2013 will be held the Speedway 's singles World Championship Grand Prix of Scandinavia in the Friends Arena in the frame.
