Friern Barnet

The Urban District of Friern Barnet was a district in the metropolitan area of the British capital London. It existed from 1875 to 1965 and was in the north- east of the former county of Middlesex.

History

Friern Barnet was originally a civil parish in the Harde ( hundred ) Ossulstone. 1875 rural health district ( rural sanitary district ) was created based in Barnet, who possessed greater powers in the infrastructure sector. Due to a petition from basic taxable inhabitants, the community formed in 1884, a private health district, which ten years later was reconstituted as Urban District.

With the establishment of the Greater London administrative region in 1965, the London Borough of Barnet was formed. Here, Friern Barnet and the Municipal Boroughs Finchley and Hendon in the County of Middlesex and the Urban District and Barnet East Barnet merged in the county of Hertfordshire.
