After with De Standaard already since 1872 there has been a nationwide body of ARP, the party leader Abraham Kuyper wanted to regional newspapers as a supplement. So De Graafschapper 1877, De Zeeuw in 1886 and in the same year de Nieuwe Provinciale Groninger Courant were added. While national newspapers as de Volkskrant and Trouw this background completely renounced ( de Volkskrant ) or, finally, Editors began, which no church at all longer belonged ( Trouw ) and that this has prevailed even in local newspapers so that Friesch Dagblad remained a Christian newspaper.
