The Friesener waiting is a 561.7 m above sea level. NN high hill of the Franconian Alb in the field of market towns Hirschaid and butt home in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg in Bavaria ( Germany ).

Geographical location

The Friesener waiting is located in the Franconian Switzerland Nature Park Veldenstein Forest on the western edge of the Franconian Switzerland. In the municipality of Hirschaid he rises about 800 m northeast of the eponymous hamlet Friesen; its eastern flank fall down towards the calves Mountain, a part of the municipality of Butt 's home.

The unincorporated area Eichwald adjoins the northern flank of the mountain. During the wooded Friesener waiting to the west and south slopes in the valley of Regnitz and Main -Danube Canal, it is connected to the north and east with the Swabian Alb.

Reserves

The Friesener waiting is part of the northern part of the multipart Fauna- Flora-Habitat area Albtrauf of the Friesener waiting for the Long Mile ( FFH-Nr. 6132-371 ) and is situated in the western part of the company founded in 2001, 1021.64 km ² large nature preserve Franconian Switzerland Veldenstein Forest ( LSG-Nr. 322697 ).

On the southern slopes of the Friesener waiting, the book mountain ( 529.6 m above sea level. NN ) in the north and the waiting ( 521.8 m above sea level. NN ) in the south, is the airfield Friesener waiting with flight operations since 1927.
