Frisian National Party

The Fryske Nasjonale Partij (German Frisian National Party ), short- FNP, is the party of the Frisian minority in the Netherlands.

The FNP was established in 1962 and was the first Dutch Party, which focused solely on one region. Today, the FNP is represented in many local councils and has since the elections of 2 March 2011 on four members of parliament of the province of Friesland (with a voting share of 9.2 %). Since then she has participated by John Kramer on the provincial government, which is currently provided by the PvdA, CDA and FNP. She is a member of the European Free Alliance (EFA ), the Party of European regional parties.

The FNP represents a left as unclassifiable and strong federal policy. It calls for greater autonomy of the Dutch provinces, the official recognition of the Frisian language and a control of the Frisian provincial government regarding natural gas reserves in the province.
