Fritz Fromm

Fritz Fromm ( born April 12, 1913 in Hannover, † October 13, 2001 ) was a German handball player.

Life

Fromm was a member of the Askanische TV Berlin. In the 1936 Olympics he was a member of the team that won the gold in the field handball. Overall, he played 1936-1942 eight matches in field handball and one in the hall.

From 1949 to 1955 he was the first national coach of the German Handball Federation. During his tenure, the national handball team in 1952 and 1955 World Champion on the field and 1954 runner-up in the hall.

As national coach, he oversaw 29 field handball matches, all of which were won. Of the 17 indoor handball international matches, he served as national coach, have won seven, lost seven and three draws. Thus Fritz Fromm is the only of the previous eleven national coach whose international games is not positive in the hall.

The grave of Fromm can be found at the city cemetery Engesohde.
