Fritz Hagmann

Fritz Hagmann (* March 28, 1901; † 14 December 1974) was a Swiss chair and freestyle wrestler from Winterthur-Seen. It was 1924 Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling in the middleweight division and won the first edition of Mann's wrestling. Hagmann was a member of the swing club Winterthur and was also called the " Master of the Hüftschwungs ".

Career

Hagmann 1921 won for the first time, along with Severin Bamert and Ernst Lamb, the Brünigbahn wrestling. In 1923 he was again repeated, where he was the sole champion wrestler this time the same success. When Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival in Vevey in the same year he was fourth.

At the Olympic Summer Games in 1924 Hagmann joined in freestyle wrestling at middleweight. He fought there in the finals and beat on his way while Robert Christoffersen (Denmark) in the qualifying round, Jussi Pentillä (Finland ) in the quarter-final and Noel Rhys ( Great Britain ) in the semi-final. On 14 June 1924 he defeated in the final, finally, Pierre Ollivier from Belgium and was Olympic champion. Later that year, he could still decide the canton Bern and the swing and the swing at the Swiss Agricultural Exhibition in Bern for themselves.

In 1926 he came to the Swiss Federal in Lucerne in the final passage, the fight against Brienz Ernst Kyburz ended in a draw. Hagmann was finally third, solid winner was Henri Wernli. A victory in a Federal Hagmann remains denied to the last, as he was in 1929 in Basel sixth, fifth in 1931 and seventh in his last participation in 1934.

On September 11 1927 he won the first edition of Mann's wrestling for themselves. In the next edition in 1932 he was defeated in the final bout against Werner Bürki. In the third edition, 1936, he was sixth.

Hagmann was appointed by the Federal Schwinger Association honorary member in March 1949.
