Fritz Huber

Fritz Huber ( born April 6, 1949 in Weissenbach ( Bad Reichenhall ) ) is a former German wrestler and winner of the bronze medal at the European Championships in 1969 in Greco-Roman flyweight.

Career

Fritz Huber grew up in the district of Weissenbach of Bad Reichenhall and began as a student at AC Bad Reichenhall with the rings. His first coach, from whom he learned much, was the Altinternationale Josef pair. Fritz wrestled mainly in the Greco- Roman style. Even in the youth field, he was very successful and in 1965 ( class up to 40 kg body weight ), 1966 ( class to 43 kg body weight) and 1967 ( class up to 48 kg body weight) German youth champion in Greco- Roman style. In 1967, he won this title also in free style. In the senior he won in 1970, his first German championship flyweight title in Greco-Roman wrestling before the former vice world champion Rolf Lacour.

In his first start in an international championship he succeeded equal to the greatest success of his career, as a flyweight in the Greco-Roman style, he won the European Championship bronze medal at the European Championships in Modena. In 1971 he achieved a respectable 6th place at the World Championship in Sofia flyweight.

1972 represented the Federal Republic of Germany at the Olympic Games in Munich and came flyweight on the 10th Place. At the end of his international career, he managed at the European Championships 1974 in Madrid, in the bantamweight title with two wins another 7th place.

Fritz Huber, who after graduating from hotel management, then concentrated more on his professional development, and did not start in international championships. He struggled for many years for the KSV Witten 07 With this club he was in 1978, 1980 and 1981 German team champion.
