Fritz Klatte

Fritz Klatte ( born March 28, 1880 in Diepholz, Germany, † February 11, 1934 in Klagenfurt, Austria ) was a German chemist and discoverer (along with the chemists Emil Zacharias and Adolf Rollett ) of polyvinyl chloride ( PVC) to which it is a German patent ( GP 281687 1912) was used for treatment of ethyne.

Polyvinyl chloride ( PVC) was invented by the French physicist Henri Victor Regnault. Klatte invented the production process, but was never able to successfully market it commercially. Klatte is sometimes mistakenly regarded as the inventor of PVC.

Doctorate in chemistry in 1917 fell ill with tuberculosis and died in 1934 at the consequences of this disease in a sanatorium in Klagenfurt.
