Fritz Thiele

Fritz Thiele ( born April 14, 1894 in Berlin, † September 4, 1944 in Berlin- Plotzensee ) was a German officer and resistance fighter.

Life

Thiele resigned in March 1914 in the imperial army and was initially trained as an intelligence officer. In 1925 he published as a lieutenant in the Royal Prussian 6 news department the book The History of News troupe from 1899 to 1924.

The appointment to the Ministry of War was in 1936. In 1940 Fritz Thiele Wehrmacht communication links became the chief of the official group appointed in the High Command of the Wehrmacht. During this time he met the head of the Army news service General Erich Fellgiebel and his deputy, Colonel Kurt Hahn know. To January 1, 1944 Thiele was promoted to lieutenant general.

In the preparations of the Valkyrie on July 20, 1944, all three were involved. Thiele received about 13 clock first in the Bendlerblock phone from the Wolf's Lair by Fellgiebel and tap the news of the assassination and that Hitler had survived. On 11 August, he was arrested by the Gestapo. The People's Court sentenced him to death on 21 August; on September 4, 1944, he was hanged in Plotzensee.
