Fritz Usinger

Fritz Usinger ( born March 5, 1895 in Friedberg, Hesse, † December 9, 1982 ) was a German writer, poet, essayist and translator.

Life

Fritz Usinger taught as a teacher at secondary schools, from 1949 he was a freelance writer.

In 1946, Usinger received as the second writer after the war the Georg Büchner Prize. From 1953 to 1965 he was himself a member of the jury and a vice president of the German Academy for Language and Literature. In 1980 he was awarded an honorary gift of the Humboldt plaque.

Work

Usinger published ten volumes of poetry, most recently, 1962, The Star futility. He also treated different themes in his fourteen volumes of essays. His essays spirit and shape includes ideological and cultural criticism essays, some of which are colored folkish.
