Fritz von Dardel

Fritz von Dardel ( born March 24, 1817 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, † May 27, 1901 in Stockholm) was a Swedish officer, painter and draftsman satire.

From Dardel was the son of the landowner Georges -Alexandre von Dardel and Countess Hedvig Sofia Lewenhaupt. At sixteen, was of Dardel cadet in an artillery regiment in 1837 a sub-lieutenant in the Swedish Royal Guard in 1862 and lieutenant colonel in the Swedish army. In 1850 he was adjutant at the Crown Prince, later Karl XV. From 1858 to 1862 served as a military attaché in Paris by Dardel. 1864 of Dardel spokesman of the Swedish Academy of Arts, of which he was a member since 1861. He was also 25 years ( 1867-1892 ), spokesman of the governing body at the National Museum.

With several art exhibitions in Europe (1867, 1871, 1873 and 1878 ) and Philadelphia (1876 ), he was one of the jurors.

From Dardel personal painter was educated at Léon Cogniet and E. Lamis in Paris.

Fritz von Dardel belonged to Karl XV. inner circle and created a variety of watercolors to people and events at the Swedish court, and of royal travel. Furthermore, he created lithographs and pictures to life of the common people. His posthumously published diaries were kept in French, because of Dardel never really learned Swedish.
