Frogner

Frogner is a borough of Oslo, Norway. It includes the urban areas Frogner, parts of Majorstuen, Hegdehaugen, Homansbyen, Briskeby, Uranienborg, Ruseløkka, Skillebekk Skarpsno, Skøyen and Bygdøy. Frogner has 47 618 inhabitants (2008 ) on an area of 8.3 km ².

Frogner was originally a farm in the municipality of Aker, now as Frogner Hovedgård (Good Frogner ) is known. In the 18th and 19th centuries belonged to rich families like Anker Frogner and Wegner. When Kristiania ( Oslo), expanded in 1878, Frogner was incorporated. In the 19th century, the area was ausparzelliert, since 1896 it is part of the Frogner Park. The district is dominated by villas with small gardens in the southeast.
