Frognerseteren

Frognerseteren, also known as Frognersætra, is a recreational area and a forest in Nordmarka within the city of Oslo, and a popular hiking area and tour destination in Norway. The namesake restaurant Frognerseteren with an attached hotel is located in the area and is located on the southern slopes of Tryvannshøgda at Holmenkollen on Holmenkollveien. The Holmenkollveien leads from the Oslo district Vestre Aker directly to Sørkedalsveien about the Good Smestad to Frognerseteren. Stasjon The Frognerseteren is the terminus Holmenkollbanen. The area was originally a pasture that belonged until 1848 to the estate Frogner ( Frogner Hovedgård ) and the former municipality Aker. Part of the Forest Nordmarka, adjacent to the roads were formerly known as the forests Trevollskogen and Frognerseterskogen. 1891 Frognerseteren restaurant was built on a plot of land within the mountian and opened. Frognerseteren and Frognerseterskogen were sold in 1889 at the Christiania community and thus it became the first city-owned forest of today's capital Oslo.

History

Frognerseteren and Frognerseterskogen ( Frognerseteren Forest ) originally belonged to the estate Frogner (Norwegian Frogner Hovedgård, Frognerseteren derived from the same name from ). The owner of Good Frogner, the forest and including the sawmill at Frognerbekken ( Frognerfluss ) besaßrn several real estate and land in Nordarka, and were successful in the wood business. The businessman and landowner Benjamin Wegner 1848 sold the manor house on the dirt road, he kept Frognerseteren and forests. Frognerseteren was, ultimately separated from the main courtyard Frogner Good. Wegner's heirs sold 1864 Frognerseteren to the banker, entrepreneur and natural athlete Thomas John Heftye.

Thomas Heftye settled in 1867 Heftye villas ( Heftye - villaen ) design by architects Herman Major Schirmer. These buildings was the first lodge in Oslo and precursor and model for later more appropriate buildings in the Norwegian forests and mountains. Heftye also built new and better ways to this area in order to enable an urban population of Christinia, Frognerseteren and Nordmarka achieve better and he lay down next to the "Villa " still a small open- air museum with a few buildings on.

Heftyes heirs sold again in 1899 Frognerseteren to the urban commune of Christiania (Oslo ). Frognerseteren Restaurant

The first building, the main restaurant was Hovedrestauranten 1891 and 1896 to the sports halls, built in dragon style according to the plans and the plans of architect Holm Munthe, who also built other buildings in this style in the capital. Holmenkollrennen
