Frontenard

Frontenard is a commune in the Bourgogne Saône -et -Loire. It belongs to the district Louhans, for Canton Pierre -de- Bresse and community association Canton de Pierre -de- Bresse. The municipality has 233 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011). The inhabitants are Frontenaisiens, respectively. Called Frontenaisiennes.

Geography

The municipality is located in the countryside of the Bresse, on a hill south of the Doubs and east of the river Guyotte. It is located at the intersection of Routes départementales D73 ( Verdun- sur -le- Doubs - Lons -le- Saunier ) and D996 ( Navilly - Louhans ). About half of the municipal area is flood plain. The commune includes the following hamlets: Abergement, Bouchardière, Culière, Faye, Mervin, Moth, Palouse, Piochis, Pont, Rangee, Recule, Taillis - Bobin, stairs lead -au- Ryard, Vie - Gravée.

Etymology

The name dates back to the Gallo-Roman name Frontiniacum property - belonging to the Frontinus - and is attested since the 11th century. In the surrounding area there are still Frontenaud in the department of Saône -et -Loire and Frontenay in the department of Jura, look back to the same naming.

History

Since the 13th century a castle in Frontenard is occupied, the place name Motte has survived to this day. 1491 was awarded the community a basic order of Oudet de Reigner and his wife Jeanne de Vienne. According to this basic order of the inhabitants had to hit the water in the moat with rods, in order to avoid that the frogs were croaking, while the lady was asleep. 1636 destroyed a band of the village down to a single house. In the 18th century, the property passes to the family de Truchis. 1721 a school was first mentioned in 1828 it is located behind the church, later told until it is housed in the 1850s with the Mairie together in building the council offices. A mill on the Guyotte burned down in 1914.

The village has a church, among other things ( from the 15th century, dedicated to Saint Martin), a Mairie ( Municipal House ), two transport companies, an electrician business, a construction company, 11 farms.
