Froylán Turcios

Froylán Turcios (* 1875 in Juticalpa, Honduras, † 1943 in San José, Costa Rica) was a politician and an important writer in his native Honduras.

First Turcios as a government minister, a deputy of the National Congress and diplomat worked before he distinguished himself as one of the greatest prose writer and narrator of the country.

In Guatemala, he founded the newspaper "El Tiempo " ( Time ). Later followed by numerous other magazines. In Honduras, he was the most important supporters of Augusto César Sandino. Through his journals and books, he fought against the strong influence of American corporations in Central America. In his last years he had to emigrate into exile in Costa Rica, where he died in 1943.
