Frozen orbit

In the space flight mechanics a Frozen Orbit (german frozen orbit ) is a satellite orbit in which the heat generated by the earth's shape natural drift is minimized by carefully selected orbital parameters. Typically this is an orbit, wherein the amount is kept over a long period of time at a particular point in the orbit the same. Changes in the orbital inclination, the argument of perigee, and the eccentricity can be minimized by the choice of starting values so that their interference cancel. This creates a long-term stable orbit with reduced fuel consumption to compensate for the perturbations.
